Carmen Curlers is a choir for gay, lesbian and bisexual people in Copenhagen.
Our repertoire is very eclectic ranging from movements from classical works and traditional Nordic songs to rock and pop in different languages.
We take our music seriously and therefore require a high attendance at rehearsals and a deal preparation for our concerts. To join, all you have to do is show us that you can sing in tune at a very small audition.
Carmen Curlers have at the moment 20 members from 30 to 67 years old. Our conductor and artistic director is Hanna Rose Jørgensen.
We sing every Wednesday evening 19:15-21:45 in Indre Bys Kulturhus, not far from Nørreport Station (Click here for a map).
We are always looking for new members, and you are very welcome to pop in and see if it is something for you. Rehearsals are, of course, in Danish, but if you have a knowledge of the language then you should be able to get by. We have members from all over the world!
It is an advantage if you can read music, but our conductor records all song parts on to an mp3 file, so it is not an absolute necessity.
We give two to three concerts a year, one of these being a Christmas concert held in a church.
We have in the past taken part in the Various Voices festivals in Holland (1995), Germany (1997,2001), France (2005) and UK (2009).
Carmen Curlers is the place where you can get to know other gay and lesbian people and meet friends for life.
